Miranda Spence is a partner at Aird & Berlis and a member of the firm’s Litigation and Financial Services Groups. She has gained a significant amount of courtroom experience over a busy first ten years of practice, leading trials, applications, motions and appeals. She is the litigator of choice for Aird & Berlis’ active Insolvency & Restructuring Group. Miranda also maintains a commercial litigation practice, appearing regularly before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, including the Commercial List, and has appeared as counsel at all levels of the Ontario courts.
Miranda is a passionate and dedicated leader both professionally and in her community. She has been an active member of The Advocates’ Society since 2016, and is a current member of the Commercial List Users’ Committee. Through external appointments such as these, Miranda remains abreast of current developments in local practice and procedure, and is consulted internally as to best practices regarding court matters.
A thought leader within her area of specialization, Miranda is often called on to present at industry conferences and continuing education programs hosted by organizations such as the Law Society of Ontario, The Advocates’ Society, the OBA, the CBA and the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation. She also writes articles for various industry publications.
Miranda frequently acts as a mentor to the firm’s summer and articling students. Her patient nature and understanding of the challenges associated with building a practice make her a valuable resource to the firm’s students and new lawyers.
